How to use the Skill Matrix Template
Follow the below steps start using the Skill Matrix Template
Before going on to steps to use templates note here that there are four templates Employees Skills Matrix Template, Skills Matrix Example, Employee Competency Matrix, IT Skills Matrix Template.
1.Employee Skill Matrix Template:
- Enter the employee's name and job role in the first two columns.
- Group the employees based on their role
- List the skills and knowledge areas.
- Assign them a rating from “0-4” against each skill,0-Not applicable, 1-beginner,2-intermediate,3-Advanced 4-Expert.
2.Skill Matrix Example:
- Enter the team member's name and job role in the first two columns.
- Group the team member based on their role
- List the skills and knowledge areas.
- Assign the rating based on their skills and knowledge as per the color Legend table.
3.Employee competency Matrix:
- Enter the team member's name and job role in the first two columns.
- Group the team member based in their role
- List the skill and knowledge areas
- Assign the grade based on their skills and knowledge as per the Legend table.
4.IT skills Matrix (PowerPoint):
- Enter the team member's name and job role.
- Group the team member based on their role
- List the skills and knowledge areas and assign a grade to a team member based on their skills and knowledge as per the legend table.
Steps to use the skill matrix templates
- Enter the team member name and match their proposed role in Column A and Column B respectively.
- List the skills and knowledge that are relevant to the project and split into a group of skills in Column C
- Decide on a grading Legend: Either number or words (E.g.: 0 through 5 where 1 is low competency, 5 is very high competency and 0 is “Not relevant”. Another grading example is “Expert”, “Intermediate”, “Novice” or “Not familiar”.)
- Assign the grade to each team member and It is recommended that each grade will be given a specific color (using the “Conditional Formatting” option)
